Title: 944 S POWER STEERING SWITCH
Post by IAN - 944ONLINE on Jun 11th, 2007 at 3:03pm
On the 944 S power steering pump - at the back of it - there is a switch with 2 wires attached - this switch is only found on the 944S -
with heat - oil- dirt and age the wires that go to this switch get hard and brittle -
when they break - and they will - if they should short out , you will be looking for a new DME wiring harness - as they will fry the DME harness when they short out -
I've sold 2 used harnesses in the last couple of months because of this problem -
Do yourself a favor and unplug these wires and tape them so they will not short out -
DO NOT RE ATTACH THEM !!

UPDATE AS OF 10/05/2009

just received this for a customer

Ian,
When i bought my 944S the wires on the power stearing pump were connected and as you may guess, the wires are fried all the way under the intak to the back of the engin block. Is this part of the wireing harness avaliable. the Car still runs but with a high idle and the RPM's trop off very slowly.
Thanks Dan.
Use my email address to contact me as i sleep during the day. Thanks again.

UPDATE AS IF 10/20 2009
