If they are factory, not aftermarket, they are steel. In 1985.5 models is the material change from cast iron probably due to the turbo waste gate recycle gas. Chemistry is like that gases on the power stroke can burn super hot due to the covelant bond and travel at the speed of sound.The wave generated is what cracks the steel. Could be the extent of rust breaking it down but definitely some waste gas heat recovery is in the mix.About 10 min and a dremel tool you can see what you can see.

You could have a combination like the ones on my car 1985/5. See the attached pic the flange looks cast and the pipe looks lighter tubular steel. That might be because Porsche put in ceramic liner coating in the late models.
