Vacuum Problems

I know this will be difficult to answer but, I think I am having vacuum issues.  When I accelerate, the engine occasionally hesitates and a mechanic mentioned that my brakes are not working to their full potential.  Does anyone have any tips to trouble shooting vacuum problems?  Thanks ???

First is to simply closely inspect the vacuum lines. Many times they are split large enough to easily see.

Second, get a can of carb cleaner or starting fluid and squirt ti along each of the vacuum hoses while the car is running. Listen for changes to the idle or smoothness of the engine. When you hear a change you've probably found a leak.

Best troubleshooting you can do for vacuum leaks....replace ALL the lines.  Lindsey has a great kit and it's cheap.

Ok, I have not found any vacuum leaks yet but I have found the engine hesitation is pretty consistent.  When I push the gas pedal to the floor the engine starts to sputter when the boost reaches around 1.5 bar.  Does any one have any idea what this may be?   ??? Thanks

Thanks HP, I should add that it gets worse the warmer the engine gets.  I will continue to investigate.

For the brakes ,there is a check valve right on the brake booster, it could be bad.

OK, It seems everything is plumbed correctly.  I could not find anything out of the ordinary.  I put a vacuum guage on some of the lines.  They all read in the normal.  The one that comes off the throttle body read normal when the engine revs.  I am at a loss.  Sometimes the engine pulls good with 1.8 bar of boost, sometimes it won't go above 1.2, sometimes the engine sputters when the boost goes to 1.5 or higher, sometimes the engine sputters at a lower than 1.5 boost.  I do not know what the heck is going on here.  I am getting pretty frustrated.  I appreciate all the help I am getting on the forum.  Thanks guys.  I think I may have to take the car to someone who knows more than me.   My wife hates when I  spend money on this toy that in her opinion I do not need???
