My Brother Mike owns one of these Callaway 944's.  He has owned it now for about 15 years.  The car is mint!  He bought it with a blown engine and rebuild it.  What a fun car!  He calls it the Vitamin machine!  Nobody knows for sure how much this car is worth I think because not many people know about it.  I keep telling him never to sell it.  I can ask him to post pics of it.  I don't think he knows what build number it is.  I think there were about 30 done by callaway.

I realize this is an old thread, but do any of you Callaway owners still have your cars? Mine is the development prototype Callaway used to prove the concept and create the package he later applied to 37 more cars. The car is one of the first thousand 944s ever built, and the Callaway work was done in May and June of 1982. We've owned the car since October of '83. We're trying to obtain a rational appraisal of the car for insurance purposes. I would appreciate anyone's first-hand knowledge of any sales of these. I'll be happy to add a photo or two if someone can tell me how to do that on this forum.

It is an older thread but maybe someone will chime in and help you out. You car is extremely rare and is beautiful and should be valued at quite a bit!

I've seen them go for as low as $10k to as high as $40k. It will ultimately depend on the condition of the car as well as the documentation. If you have documentation that shows it was a development prototype car that would certainly add to the value. The bigger issue though is convincing the insurance company of the value. Since it was not a factory option they may not agree with the value of the car. See if you can find some old sale posts for them where they were actually sold because that is likely what the insurance company will do.
