WIRING " ISSUES " ENGINE TEMP  -  GROUNDS ECT
Jan 8th, 2010 at 7:37pm

OK  - as these cars get older -
" things " begin to break down - as we know these car like to run hot -  and important that we keep them cool - or a least know what the CORRECT engine temp is -
as most of you know we sell new and used parts so we take a lot of these cars apart -
what I trying to do is take pictures and post warning of common things we sell that go bad -
here's a VERY common problem -
the wiring on the temp sender for the gauge -
THE SENDING UNIT IS UNDER THE INTAKE MANIFOLD TOWARD THE FRONT -

look at this diagram from the parts side of the site

see # 2 ?

thats the sender shown here -  and its for the temp gauge in the dash

switch # 1 is the switch that sends a signal to the DME when the engine is cold -
if your car is hard to start when its cold ths is the first thing you should change

a better picture of its location

and another post we had a while back on the wiring for the resistors for the radiator cooling fans

so CHECK YOUR WIRING !!

we get a lot of calls on ground points
here are the ones at the back of the engine

THANKS TO RONIN 951
we have this as well

Sometime's a Meter is NOT the best tool for troubleshooting, - as they draw so little Current, a bad Connection goes undetected. A 12vdc Test Light will draw Current on it's own and would dim if there's a crusty joint.

and click this for a really good ground point diagram
Thanks Ronin
