85/1 steering column bushing how to
May 27th, 2009 at 4:25pm

ON THE  85/1 944  - AND THE 924 S -
THERE IS A PLASTIC INSERT INSIDE THE BEARING THAT SUPPORTS THE STEERING SHAFT -
IF YOU HAVE UP AND DOWN PLAY IN THE STEERING COMUMN  - YOU KNOW  - IF YOU CAN HOLD THE STEERING WHEEL AND GIGGLE IT UP AND DOWN  - THIS IS MOST LIKLEY YOUR PROBLEM - AS THE CARS GET OLDER THIS BUSHING FALLS APART -
HOW DO I GET IT OFF ?
TAKE OFF THE STEERING WHEEL - AND THE BACK COVER  - AND THE COMPLETE HOUSING THAT HOLDS THE IGNITION SWITCH ASSY -
AND REPLACE THE BUSHING THAT FITS INSIDE -
I'VE TAKEN A COUPLE OF PICTURES THAT SHOWS HOW IT FITS
I HOPE THIS HELPS

AND HERE IS THE LINK TO THE PLASTIC BUSHING ON THE PARTS SIDE OF THE SITE -
