OK, a little progress.  The head is supposed to be out of the machine shop Monday, so I got the cam cover ready.
Time to start getting a gasket set and belts together.

The car is silver with black interior so I went with the black insert.  TI painted the cam housing with high temp header paint with silica and ceramic

Thxs Noah !
I polished the letters and then sprayed a coat of clear over them to keep them from tarnishing for awhile.
I liked it so well that I did the same for the cam housing for my '86 944S 2.5

OK, got the head back from the machine shop, they welded 2 small divots between the #2 & 3 combustion chambers and when they pressure checked it found a crack in the # intake port right at the side of the valve guide boss.  They welded it and did a light (.005) clean up. I port matched the intake side and polished both the intake and exhaust ports, so now it is bagged and ready to go.
Next, clean up the pistons and block surface.

Got the throttle body cleaned up, polished and ready to go:
Marked the location of the TPS, but yes, forgot to bottom out the bleed air screw before I counted how many turns. Anyone know what the proper setting is for it?
It is the little brass nut looking thing on the top of the last picture.

Got the head on and the intake cleaned up, now just need to put the rest of the stuff on it.
Wish Porsche had seen fit to use a quality aluminum/casting process on the head and intake. When doing the polishing, I found many casting flaws and seams that took a lot of work to clean up.
Oh well it is almost 30 years old and still going, so can't be too bad.
