924 wiper motor parts?
Dec 9th, 2016 at 10:58pm
Print Post
I was able to find a few old posts about "how to" repair a wiper motor but I cannot find any info on parts. does anyone have the specs or a part number for the plastic gear inside the wiper motor? my motor is spinning but the plastic gear is missing a few teeth.

thanks!

I called cardone. (the place that has wiper motors listed for sale everywhere on the internet but doesn't actually have one to sell)
I spoke to a customer service person and felt like I was playing "whos on first". I don't know if the guy was really that dumb or if he was just messing with me. they were 0 help. if there are people selling remanned wiper motors, there must be a way to buy parts to rebuild a wiper motor.   ideas?

Just a thought: I've replaced mine with a cheap aftermarket part from a Golf. This might be of interest to you.

thats awesome. any idea which models this will work with?

I'm going to find the part number or specs for that plastic gear.  ...maybe I need to start a business selling this stuff. there seems to be a demand and 0 supply.

Yeah I never could find part numbers for replacement when I wrote that tutorial and the plastic bit is the first thing to go.

My suspicion is that the internals are not identical throughout the years, similar to the odo cogs - but that must not stop you from doing that.

My early 924 motor was the exact same as my 944 motor.  Unless they changed in the late models.

I recently ran a ground from the fan bracket to the wiper motor bracket and it made the motor run faster. Easier than digging around under the dash to trace that skinny little brown wire. Mine won't return to park though when the switch is off. Wipers just stop wherever they are as if someone turned the key off while the wipers were running. Intermittent position doesn't work at all either. Thought about buying another switch, but hate to spend the money just to find out it isn't the switch. Relay clicks away happily every wipe.

Likely something either broken in the column switch, or very very dirty.  If you pull the wheel and then pull the switch out (carefully) you can get to the contacts and clean them off with something like superfine steel wool and some contact cleaner.

Be ultra careful though because the two long extended plastic pieces that slide in are very prone to being brittle and breaking.

Probably something broken. I cleaned those contacts and played with the switch a year or so ago and I got the washer motor to work, but never could get intermittent position working. I don't drive it much in the rain anyways, but I get annoyed about things not working anymore on a car. It just makes me feel like "that guy" who is too lazy to fix the little things.

I just took the rear one apart. Hindsight don't take the brush's out you'll have a hard time with the springs. I'm using the BIC lighter springs.

Worm gear to cam gear (wheel) lever to drive wiper and positional contacts to motor.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BJk6gZuPKRE
Paralyzer Finger Eleven

A large flat head screw driver will push out the motor from the end of the worm gear. Then you'll need to rid the magnets of the rust (safety glasses). Computer dust air to remove the whiskers if you use a dremel (brush) tool.

Your choice I used white lithium grease on the gear, link lever, and motor bearing is sealed but the face off to the case I used the same. Since I use it on my reels seemed like a good idea at the time.
EDIT:
I'm having a hard time getting this one (donor) off soaked in PB blaster and vinegar water 24 hours. Tried heat, hammer, vice. Any advise?
EDIT: put my rear motor wiper back together today. Give it some power tomorrow. (1) new PIC

I received a BOSCH rear hatch wiper blade package from Steve944online.

To accommodate or make this same change to the rear hatch wiper arm you have to remove the original metal pin attachment on the original arm and use the A7 pin shipped with the wiper blade and tap on the plastic wiper arm attachment shipped with the pin in the BOSCH wiper blade package. (see attached pics)

I'm not having much luck with my refurbished rear hatch wiper motor from previous post. (Edit) I tested commutator and winding using you tube this video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qNV7TylIzSY

1.)Commutator copper bar pairs 180* apart:
1.1) 3.6 Ohms,
1.2) 2.1 ohms,
1.3) 17.8 ohms,
1.4) 43 ohms

2.)Commutator copper bar pairs adjacent to each other
2.1) 2.4 ohms
2.2) 2.5 ohms
2.3) 46.1 ohms
2.4) 42.2 ohms
I didn't try the third test since the first two failed. Used two different digital multi-meters Klein Tools MM200 and CEN-TECH 90899 to compare readings. New attachments showing the winding of the two failed with larger resistance (copper whisker separation on loop through at commutator).

Steve is going to be working on getting a supplier for this type rear hatch wiper motor next week. I will post when the information is available.

I have tried extensively to obtain assist from 944 online just a new armature or rebuilt motor over a period of 3 months this year to no avail of rear Wiper motor. The problem I had was the placement of the surge protector and the brushes replacement otherwise I have a refurbished motor in Dallas new commutator . New thermostat surge protector and the other components I was unable to completS especially brushes . Steve 944 online will recall the reiteration of REAR motor.100 bucks for a front motor sounds more than fair w/1 or guarantee.
