I am considering building a fibreglass hood or maybe a one piece front end.

How should I go about this?

Call GT Racing or someone like them, Probably cheaper, easier, and repeatable.

IFC Racing has a full line of lightweight fiberglass for the 944 - hoods, doors, roof panels, fenders & flares etc.

Their stuff looks great, but it all seems to be priced a little on the steep side...yea, like you couldn't see that coming when your searching for parts for Porches! Grin

Fiberglass body panels, for any car, are usually junk.  Using good material and a vacuum bag would make a stiffer part and probably less than half the weight.  It is not that expensive to do it right, and maybe takes just a little bit more time.  You only need to make a mold of the outside surface, not the inside structure of the hood.  Do I need to hold class here on how to do this?  I have built race car body parts, intake manifolds, entire aircraft and aircraft propeller blades from carbon fiber and fiberglass.

Just looked at that site.  Those parts could weigh half that, or maybe even lighter and be stiffer.  They would be more stable in heat as well.
