Those look fantastic! The price is stiff, but I think it would be a great investment!

I've seen that image before, the news is out since a couple of years. I yet have to find someone who actually would sell me one in Europe. I don't know why, but Pilkington is really bad at marketing these - given that the original manual panels are plastic (not metal, as stated in the article) and hence, start cracking, a small but steady market exists. I would get one just to preserve the original panel...

I have always liked the look of the Saratoga top and always find myself torn when these become available. I have a perfectly functioning roof panel and am hesitant to mess with it. But these tops only become available once every blue moon. The price of a used one later one will be at least the same or more down the road so if you're interested I would jump on this now.

Also I believe I read some place that Pilkington is the licensed maufacture of this glass roof so they are really really hard to find anywhere else. But I am going off memory of something I read a few months back.

Is the plastic frame for the glass used as a seal against the environment outdoors and water?
Seems like under closing pressure the plastic could get into a bind and then not seal, if the Heisenberg principal presents itself?
( the uncertainty principal)

I have the 2 A pillar drains and off course the 2 C pillar drains holes in the rear quarter panel bottom close to the frame and 2 sprinkler valves so that make 2 at each quarter panel and only two tubes encased going out 2 other tubes passing thru the bulkhead seams and still have water build up inside the back two hatch quarter panels on heavy rains the surface water must be coming up into off the pavement

Check the drain tube in the fuel filler area.  Mine came loose and was putting water into the rear seat area.

Dave - black 84 no longer exists. Sad 83 self destructed. All better now. Smiley

I call Pilkington. they are currently out of stock, but plan on having more in stock in a month or so.

Since my top fell apart, I will be looking for something to replace it.

Is this item permanently installed in the car or is it removable?

I had picked one up a year ago. Works well looks good. My seal separated the second time I opened it.  They are suppose to replace it. But it’s been awhile
