How often should you change a water pump in a 1983 Porsche 944?

As often as they wear out. Smiley

Seriously, just look for signs of coolant leaking out of the weep hole on the bottom of the pump.  The hole is there to let you know that the seals are almost dead.

Dave - black 84 no longer exists. Sad 83 self destructed. All better now. Smiley

Thank for the responses, I think that I will have the shop just go ahead and replace it.
