CV Axles Switch Sides After Repack?

1987 NA 944 - will be cleaning and re-packing cv joints soon.  Is it still common wisdom to switch cv axles left to right...to utilize "fresh" surfaces?

YOu can swap the joints for that exact reason.

Not a good idea to swap axles as they take a "set".
Twisting the opposite direction can weaken and break them (under hard use).
If you are easy on your car, then it doesn't matter.

I did it a couple of years ago and it worked fine.

Just back on the road after a 7-8 year storage.  Yea!
