Tranny Drop With No Engine - Easier?

Question about dropping the trans on my '87NA.  My engine is currently out to the car, but I can find no reference to dropping a tranny with the engine out.

But with no engine, it looks to me like once I disconnect the shifter-related components, as well as the exhaust stuff, and drive axles, I should be able to twist and slide the torque-tube forward and drop the tranny straight down, and also possibly leave the drive rod coupler connected on the tranny side?  Does this make sense?

You will still need to slide the transmission back no matter what due to the shift rod there is not way to clear it without sliding the transmission back.

doing my engine modifications i dropped and raised the engine /torque tube/ transaxle as one piece.
transaxle disconnected from the car via hanging beam (2 bolts)
obviously the rear axle beam was first removed.

so without engine in it should be fairly simple-i think Roll Eyes
